Discovery
Every once in a while, a project comes across my desk with limited resources but a ton of heart. Bird + Stone is a direct-to-consumer jewelry brand who donates 10% of all sales to non-profits and community philanthropy projects. They were selected to have a pop-up storefront at the Barclay's Center in downtown Brooklyn, with access to the iconic Oculus display, a 3,000-square-foot, 360-degree LED marquee that hangs above the main entrance.
The only problem? Just under a week to get something together, with no in-house motion team to assist. Despite these hurdles, we hit the ground working and created something magical together.
A 3D pre-visualization of the Barclay's Center Oculus display helped us understand how the loop would perform before going live.

Design
Working with designs from the designer Dylan Aiello, I set out to create a seamless loop for Barclay's exterior 360° Oculus and some smaller interior will call digital signs. Given the unique dimensions and framing of the Oculus, I decided to build a quick pre-visualization of the animated loop in 3D. This provided both the client and me a more complete look at how the loop would perform before going live.
The flattened loops designed and animated for the main foyer and Oculus of the Barclay's Center, showcasing Bird + Stone's jewelry and philanthropic mission.

Delivery
We delivered a suite of looping animations built around Bird + Stone's jewelry and their cause-driven identity — designed to read clearly at the scale of a 3,000 square-foot LED marquee. The tight timeline forced a level of creative decisiveness that I think made the work stronger. There's something about a real deadline and a real screen that focuses the mind.
Seeing those pieces run above the Barclays Center entrance during a live event remains one of the more surreal and satisfying moments I've had in this work.
