Colorado Rapids Activation Previz

The Pineapple Agency is a team of super-talented experiential marketers who are focused on creating experiences that stick with you long after they're over. They thrive at the intersection of experiential design and activation marketing.

The Pineapple Agency team approached me to help them develop some 3D pre-visualizations for their client, the Colorado Rapids. The Rapids were looking to showcase some of their 25th Anniversary by highlighting their team's history in a shipping container-turned-museum. Fans could explore the exhibit when attending games held at the Rapids stadium at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver, CO.

The Pineapple Agency provided me with brand standards for The Colorado Rapids, as well as some initial thoughts and explorations. I utilized these existing color palettes, fonts and various pieces of media to layout the main "wrapper" for the containers. The exterior sides of the container were designed to provide photo opportunities for fans, emphasizing the Rapids team branding, even when closed.

The interiors brought in one key element from the team's locker room - a trio of lockers where fans could see player jerseys & kits. I also implemented some hexagonal display cases with the team colors as accent lights. These hexagons are a nod to the shapes that make up a soccer ball; 20 white hexagons alongside 12 black pentagons. The goal was to create a modern, sleek and dynamic space that felt like a celebration of the team's history, but also didn't overwhelm viewers with too much visual noise.

One of my favorite pieces to design and partially animate was the front "door" of the rectangular container. I envisioned the interior of the front door being lined with hardwood flooring, so when it was lowered down it provided an entry ramp that was not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing as well.
